My red dress!
Well well well! Today was fun enough, and yesterday... I;m not entirely sure. I'll explain.
Yesterday my only neighborhood friend came over. She moved to the suburbs in 5th grade or so, and so contact between us (formerly every day) slowed to every few months. Well, she is driving now, and has her own car- a neat 1974 Duster, blue- and she came over. I feel that we have much less in common than we did, or that is shows more now, which is sad. The visit felt long, which is bad news. We watched a crappy movie, which none of you should see (Showtime, Robert Deniro and Eddie Murphy. Bad.) Then she left, and I went to Joe's house, and had a great time. We watched Memento, which was fabulous, and everyone should see, and then Ferris Buhler's Day Off. Also a must see. Classic 80's comedy, good stuff. "Now Matthew Broderick is going to give the monkey an apple!". (Sorry, Joe.)
Then today. I was having some sort of Western shootout dream, except with Samurai, and selected friends, when I woke up late. I walked to the bathroom to clean up where I discovered the wet rug in the shower. So much for that plan... We apparently got water in our basement (near my room) last night, and Mom was walking through my room periodically checking for further leaks.
So I dressed and came upstairs, hearing a voice on the stairs. I thought at first that it was my aunt, but it wasn't- it was Ethel on a "dry run". (when she said that, it was pouring rain, and I couldn't help snickering.) We chatted for a while, and she left.
I needed to print something and both printers now hate me, so we ran over to the library, already 20 minutes late, to print it. Their computers were down. Now we were 45 minutes behind. I called Deana and (thank goodness!) she was generous enough to let me print it at her house. Thanks, by the way. We flew out to Rolling Meadows, where I looked up a zip code, and then we left for lunch at a lovely and fancy restaurant.
It was nice, then we went shopping. Which was... uh... ok. We went to Nordstom's Rack after that, and I found this beautiful bright red dress... and it was cheap. So, I split the cost with my mom. $100 total, for the dress and matching shoes. That is my one (possibly only) 'girly' indulgence- trying of fancy dresses. I like that. Deana, you now have company. And, we're planning on pulling a fast one on John. Poor guy. :-) hehe.
